Emma had only ten minutes to catch her train when her phone buzzed with a strange message:
If you want to find something you lost long ago, take the next bus instead.
Her heart jumped. She didn’t recognize the number. She looked around the busy station, wondering if someone was playing a joke. But something inside her whispered, Go. Emma had been feeling tired, stuck, and bored with her life for months. Maybe this was the adventure she needed.
So instead of running to the train, she walked to the bus stop and got on the first bus leaving the station. She didn’t even check where it was going.
The bus was almost empty. There was an old man reading a map upside-down, a teenage girl taking photos of everything, and a tall guy with a travel backpack eating chips. Emma sat by the window, feeling a mix of fear and excitement.
After an hour, the bus stopped near a small town surrounded by green hills and bright yellow fields. Emma had never seen such a calm, beautiful place. She stepped off the bus and noticed the tall guy with the backpack walking toward her.
“Strange message?” he asked.
Emma froze. “You got one too?”
He nodded and showed his phone. It had the exact same text.
The two decided to explore the town together. They walked past colorful houses, talked to friendly shop owners, and followed a small path that led them to a lake with crystal-clear water. There, they met the old man from the bus. He laughed and told them he had also received the same mysterious message.
“So… who sent it?” Emma asked.
The old man pointed to a wooden sign near the lake. It said:
Sometimes, you must get lost to find yourself.
Emma felt a sudden warmth inside her chest. She understood. Nobody had sent the message. It wasn’t magic. It wasn’t a trick. It was just a reminder she desperately needed: her life was more than routines, deadlines, and stress. She needed to slow down. She needed to breathe.
When Emma finally returned home that evening, she didn’t find the sender of the message—but she found something much more important.
She found herself again.
