Making a New Friend

It was a sunny morning, and Emma felt nervous. Today was her first day at a new school. She walked into the classroom, holding her books close to her chest. Many students were talking and laughing, but Emma stood quietly in the corner. She didn’t know anyone.

Suddenly, a girl with a big smile came over. “Hi, I’m Sarah! What’s your name?” she asked.

Emma looked up and smiled a little. “I’m Emma,” she said softly.

“Do you want to sit with me?” Sarah asked. Emma nodded, feeling a little less afraid.

During the lesson, Sarah whispered small jokes, and Emma laughed. At lunch, Sarah shared her sandwich, and Emma shared her apple. They talked about music, movies, and their favorite colors. The more they talked, the more Emma felt happy.

At the end of the day, Sarah said, “See you tomorrow, friend.” Emma’s heart was warm. She had walked into school alone, but she was leaving with a friend.

The next morning, Emma woke up excited, not scared. She had learned something very important: sometimes one smile can change everything.
