A Surprise Letter

Leo was a small, brown dog with floppy ears. He loved to play in his big, green garden. One sunny morning, the mailman came to the house. He put a bright blue letter in the mailbox. This letter was special. It was not for Leo’s owner, Sarah. It was for Leo!

The letter had a little paw print stamp on it. Sarah was very surprised. She opened the envelope carefully. She read the letter out loud to Leo. “Dear Leo,” it said. “We are having a big party for all the dogs in the neighborhood. The party is at the city park on Saturday. There will be new toys and tasty snacks. We hope you can come and play. From, your friends at the park.”

Leo was so excited. He wagged his tail so fast that his whole body wiggled. A party just for dogs! He had never been to a special dog party before. He barked happily and ran in circles around the kitchen.

On Saturday, Sarah put on Leo’s favorite red collar. She took Leo to the park. So many other dogs were there! Big dogs, small dogs, fluffy dogs, and short-haired dogs were all running and playing. They chased bright tennis balls and played with squeaky toys. There was a long table with yummy dog treats. There were bone-shaped cookies and little pieces of chicken.

Leo met a new friend. Her name was Daisy, a happy golden retriever. They ran and played tag all afternoon. Leo ate many tasty cookies. It was the best day ever. He was so happy he got that surprise letter in the mail.
