A Power Cut During Dinner

The rain was falling hard outside, tapping against the windows like impatient fingers. Inside the small apartment, Emma and her friends were laughing around the dinner table. The smell of pasta filled the air, and soft music played in the background. Everything felt warm and perfect—until suddenly, click! The lights went out.

“Great,” Emma said, holding her fork in the dark. “Now what?”

For a few seconds, silence covered the room. Then someone’s phone flashlight turned on, and the faces around the table looked both strange and funny in the sharp white light. The music had stopped, the oven was quiet, and the only sound was the storm outside.
